Income Layers
To begin, make sure to select the appropriate Social Security strategy (Optimal or Custom) based on the information.
- You can easily go back and review the results and/or adjust inputs by using the toggle switch at the top of this screen. Please note that whichever age(s) are selected before switching to Income Layer mode, those age(s) will be used as the defaults and will have an effect on the information used for Income Layers.
- The Income chart represents the income throughout the selected timeframe. The Assets view shows the asset(s) required at the start period and shows the amount that is being drawn down.
- With Benefit Delay, Social Security Advantage calculates the cost of extending the peak Social Security benefit amount forwards to the selected year. Benefit Delay is the amount it would cost to extend the assets needed in order to fund the delay.
- With Benefit Replacement, the assets required to replace benefits lost after the date of first death for a married couple is calculated.
